AEGEAN, Greece’s leading airline, is expanding its fleet and enhancing its global reach with the addition of two Airbus A321neo XLR (Extra Long Range) aircraft.
These long-range single-aisle aircraft are capable of flying up to 10.5 hours. This will enable AEGEAN to launch flights to India starting in March 2026.
This move brings the airline’s Airbus A320/A321neo order to 60 aircraft, with 36 already delivered. The A321neo XLR aircraft offer a significant upgrade over their predecessors.
Airbus A321XLR: Range and Comfort
With a range 2.5 hours longer than the A321neo LR and 4.5 hours beyond the standard A321neo, these planes open new possibilities for long-haul destinations.
As well as their impressive range, these aircraft are designed for passenger comfort. Each aircraft features a tailored configuration with just 138 seats, including 24 Business Class Suites.
These suites boast fully lie-flat beds, enhanced privacy, and direct aisle access, setting a new standard for premium travel.
Economy class passengers will also enjoy a superior experience, with spacious seating, 4K inflight entertainment screens, satellite Wi-Fi, USB and device charging ports, and oversized luggage bins optimized for long-haul journeys.
Delivery Scheduling
The two A321neo XLR aircraft are slated for delivery in December 2025 and January 2026, joining AEGEAN’s “special purpose” sub-fleet.
This sub-fleet also includes four A321neo LR aircraft, previously announced in April 2024, with deliveries planned for 2027 and 2028.
Together, these six aircraft will elevate AEGEAN’s ability to serve destinations beyond the EU. Routes covered have flight times exceeding four hours, offering a differentiated travel experience.

New Routes to India and Beyond
AEGEAN is gearing up to launch five weekly flights to New Delhi in March 2026, followed by three weekly flights to Mumbai in May 2026.
The detailed flight schedule will be available by late September 2025, coinciding with the start of ticket sales.
As the A321neo LR aircraft join the fleet in 2027 and 2028, AEGEAN plans to explore additional routes to destinations like Bangalore, Seychelles, Maldives, Nairobi, Almaty, and Lagos, further expanding its network.
A Milestone for AEGEAN and Greece
This fleet investment marks a pivotal moment for AEGEAN. The new aircraft not only broaden travel options but also elevate the passenger experience.
By strengthening its long-haul capabilities, AEGEAN is enhancing Greece’s role as a connectivity hub for international flights and boosting the airline’s global competitiveness.

AEGEAN Chairman Eftichios Vassilakis explained the strategy behind the move. “The addition of these two A321neo XLR aircraft in 2025, alongside the four A321neo LRs planned for 2027 and 2028, accelerates our entry into the vital Indian market.”
“It also allows us to immediately enhance our services to destinations beyond the EU with flights over four hours. These aircraft open a new chapter for AEGEAN, offering growth opportunities, improved passenger options, and stronger connectivity for Greece.”
“With advanced fleet capabilities, robust infrastructure, and the creativity of our team, we are moving forward with ambitious yet prudent steps.”
