Lufthansa Technik has expanded its digital services agreement with Air Transat, with the Canadian carrier set to roll out the AVIATAR platform across its entire fleet – making it the first airline in North America to adopt the complete Digital Tech Ops Ecosystem.
The agreement will see all 43 of Air Transat’s Airbus A321 and A330 aircraft integrated with AVIATAR, Lufthansa Technik’s modular platform for data and analytics. The digital suite includes applications such as predictive health analytics, condition monitoring, engineering analytics, and a digital technical logbook.
Having already implemented the AMOS maintenance management system in 2007 and adopted flydocs for digital records management in 2024, Air Transat now completes the trio of solutions under Lufthansa Technik’s ecosystem.
“Lufthansa Technik’s AVIATAR platform will help us simplify, modernise and optimise our technical operations,” said Mario Lafrance, vice president of technical operations at Air Transat. “The adoption of this ecosystem is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency, improve data quality, streamline communication across our technical operations, and keep our aircraft flying longer. It also represents another step towards transitioning our operations to a paperless environment.”
AVIATAR was launched in 2017 and now supports over 5,000 aircraft globally. The platform’s modular architecture allows customisation based on each airline’s operational requirements. It is positioned at the heart of Lufthansa Technik’s digital strategy, combining fleet management tools with engineering and data science expertise.
Among the applications Air Transat will deploy is AVIATAR’s Technical Logbook, introduced to the North American market for the first time through this agreement.
The logbook enables pilots and engineers to digitally document technical issues using structured formats and automated input fields, accessible via any device and backed by offline functionality. Integrated with the AMOS system, it enables real-time planning of maintenance actions prior to aircraft arrival, helping reduce turnaround times and associated costs.
“Air Transat’s decision for all applications within our Digital Tech Ops Ecosystem reflects the increasing demand for our comprehensive digital solutions that enhance technical operational performance,” said Georgios Ouzounidis, vice president sales for the Americas at Lufthansa technology. “This includes the introduction of the AVIATAR Technical Logbook to the region for the first time. With Air Transat’s adoption, Lufthansa Technik’s Digital Tech Ops Ecosystem makes its debut in North America.”
The ecosystem’s standardised data structure also enables improved analysis and long-term maintenance planning, supporting Air Transat’s broader digital transformation agenda.
