Offer of seats for domestic flights grows 6% and international rise up 27% in July

Brazilian airlines scheduled eleven million seats for domestic flights during the July holidays this year, an increase of 6% over the same period last year.

In all, 68,300 flights are foreseen in the national market, according to a survey by the Brazilian Association of Airlines (Abear), based on data from ANAC.

In the international market, growth was more significant: the offer of seats rose 27% compared to July 2024, totaling 655,000 seats and 6,800 flights scheduled by Brazilian companies.

According to Abear, the increase is due to the inclusion of new routes and extra flights, especially the accumulated performance in the year. Between January and May, 48.8 million seats were offered, a number that exceeds 4.3% the one registered in the same period of 2019, before the pandemic. Compared to 2024, the growth was 5.2%.

In the domestic market, the expansion was mainly pulled by the origin or destination routes in the São Paulo (+5%), Rio de Janeiro (+10%) and Brasilia (+6.4%) capitals. The Northeast also had relevant growth. The connections between Brasilia and Pernambuco grew 44%, while flights to Bahia rose 17%. Routes between São Paulo and the states of Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte increased, respectively, 20% and 10%. Bahia was up 7% in the offer, and Ceará, 5%.

In the international market, Argentina and Chile concentrate a significant part of the expansion. 155,000 seats were offered for each country, with growth of 63% for Argentina and 17.9% for Chile. Flights to the United States total 108,000 seats, a 6.8% increase compared to July 2024.

Between the states, Santa Catarina and Sao Paulo lead the expansion of the international air network, with an increase of 25% and 17.7%, respectively.
