As summer rolls on, many travelers are already dreaming of winter escapes—whether it’s carving down snowy slopes, exploring rugged landscapes, or soaking up the sun on sandy beaches. American Airlines has revealed an exciting lineup of new winter routes.

From ski resorts in Idaho to coastal gems in Southwest Florida, the airline is offering more ways to plan the perfect vacation.

“We’re committed to giving our customers endless possibilities to craft their ideal getaway,” said Jason Reisinger, American’s Managing Director of Global Network Planning.

“With these new routes, travelers can earn AAdvantage® miles and status while planning unforgettable winter holidays with loved ones.”

Hit the Slopes in Style

Starting December 18, American Airlines will introduce new flights to Sun Valley, Idaho (SUN), from both Chicago (ORD) and Phoenix (PHX). These routes provide seamless one-stop connections from over 150 destinations nationwide, making Sun Valley’s pristine slopes more accessible than ever.

Nestled among stunning mountains, this winter sports haven offers activities for everyone, from skiing and snowboarding to cozy indoor retreats.

Flights to Sun Valley will operate on dual-class aircraft, giving travelers the option of a premium cabin experience for added comfort.

For those eager to check multiple ski destinations off their list, American is also expanding service to other top Mountain State spots.

New flights to Aspen, Colorado (ASE), from Charlotte (CLT) will connect this iconic ski town to more U.S. cities than any other airline.

Additionally, American will offer the only nonstop winter service from Chicago (ORD) to Missoula, Montana (MSO). With over 70 daily flights to prime ski destinations, travelers can hit the slopes on a sunny day and unwind with hot cocoa by the fireplace in the evening.

Discover the Western U.S.

American Airlines continues to lead as the largest carrier serving Santa Fe, New Mexico (SAF), with new flights from Chicago (ORD) and Los Angeles (LAX).

These routes complement existing service from Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) and Phoenix (PHX), making it easier to explore “The City Different” or ski the slopes of nearby Taos.

Whether you’re drawn to Santa Fe’s vibrant art scene or its outdoor adventures, these flights offer unmatched convenience.

On October 15, American will launch service to its 17th California destination: Santa Maria (SMX). With two daily flights from Phoenix (PHX), this Central Coast city invites visitors to savor its famous Santa Maria-style barbecue and explore local wineries.

As the only global network carrier serving Santa Maria, American is opening up this charming destination to more travelers.

Sun, Sand and Winter Escapes

Why choose between snowy peaks and sunny shores when you can experience both? American’s winter schedule caters to every type of traveler.

New routes include service from Chicago (ORD) to Honolulu (HNL), Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) to Kona, Hawaii (KOA), and Los Angeles (LAX) to Brisbane, Australia (BNE).

For those venturing farther south, American will offer four daily flights between Miami (MIA) and Buenos Aires, Argentina (EZE).

As the leading U.S. airline for flights to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America, American is adding even more options.

Starting in December, travelers can fly to Puerto Escondido, Mexico (PXM), for the first time with American, along with four new routes to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ).

For a warm-weather escape closer to home, nonstop flights between Phoenix (PHX) and Fort Myers, Florida (RSW) will run during the November and December holiday season.

Known for its beautiful beaches, coastal islands, and fresh seafood, Fort Myers is the perfect complement to a winter sports adventure or a standalone sunny getaway.
