Arajet is the first Caribbean airline to adopt Iata’s turbulence platform

Caribbean airline Arajet has signed an agreement with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to join the Turbulence Aware platform, a system that provides real -time turbulence data to improve flight safety and comfort.

With the adhesion, Arajet becomes the first Caribbean airline to use the tool, which collects anonymous flight data from participating operators. The information is used by pilots and dispatchers to optimize route planning and reduce the impacts of turbulence during operations.

The agreement was made official during the air safety summit and flight operations of the Latin American Association and the Caribbean Air Transport (Alta), held in Mexico City.

According to IATA, each new airline that adheres to the platform contributes to expand data coverage, which favors the analysis and response to turmoil in the region.

We are pleased that Arajet has decided to participate in Turbulence Aware”Said Peter Cerdá, Iata’s regional vice president for the Americas.”This improves the real-time information we provide to crews, helping them mitigate the effects of turbulence.”

Arajet is also present in Brazil, with a daily flight between Punta Cana (PUJ), in the Dominican Republic, and São Paulo (GRU).
