China Airlines, a leading Taiwan-based carrier, is set to move its operations to The New Terminal One at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in 2026.

This long-term partnership marks a significant step in the airline’s mission to expand its North American network while offering an unmatched customer experience at one of its key international hubs.

The move aligns with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s ambitious $19 billion project to reimagine JFK as a world-class global gateway.

A New Era for JFK Airport

The New Terminal One is a cornerstone of JFK’s transformation. The facelift includes constructing two new terminals, upgrading two existing ones, creating a new ground transportation center, and streamlining the airport’s roadway network.

This bold initiative aims to enhance efficiency, comfort, and connectivity for travelers. By 2030, The New Terminal One will span 2.6 million square feet. This makes it JFK’s largest terminal and comparable in size to LaGuardia Airport’s two new terminals combined.

The first phase, featuring new arrivals and departures halls and 14 gates, is slated to open in 2026, with full completion expected by 2030.

Enhanced Travel with China Airlines

China Airlines aims to improve the customer experience through significant investments in its fleet, network, and inflight services.

The airline operates nonstop flights to six North American destinations. It offers over 40 weekly return flights from its hub at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.

With nearly 500 weekly flights, China Airlines provides robust connectivity for passengers traveling between Asia and North America. Beyond passenger services, the airline maintains a strong cargo network, serving 12 North American destinations.

Joining Fellow SkyTeam Carriers

As a proud member of the SkyTeam global airline alliance, China Airlines joins fellow SkyTeam carriers. Air France, KLM, Korean Air, and SAS are amongst those choosing The New Terminal One as their new home.

Other international airlines, including Etihad, LOT Polish Airlines, EVA Air, Air Serbia, Neos, Philippine Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Air New Zealand, Royal Air Maroc, and Air China, will also operate from the terminal. This will create a vibrant hub for global travel.

The New Terminal One: A World-Class Facility

The New Terminal One at New York JFK is designed to set a new standard for airport terminals. It is aiming for a Top 5 Skytrax ranking. Built on the sites of the current Terminal 1 and the former Terminals 2 and 3, it will anchor JFK’s south side.

The terminal will feature 23 gates upon completion. It will prioritize passenger comfort with modern amenities, innovative technology, and a focus on exceptional service.

For China Airlines passengers, the move to The New Terminal One promises advanced technology and world-class amenities. The improvements will be noticeable from check-in to boarding.

This exciting development further strengthens China Airlines’ position in the global aviation market. It also reinforces JFK’s transformation into a premier international gateway.
