Cory Booker Gets Real On What He Thinks The Democrats Need To Do In The Next Presidential Election
About twenty-one minutes into the interview, Thembi asked the senator to share his thoughts on the public’s sentiments that the party may not have a “strong contender” for the next presidential election. Specifically, she asked the Senator to share whether he believes the sentiment is true and if he feels former Vice President Kamala Harris should run for president again.
“I think that there’s an exciting bench of Democrats coming up,” Senator Booker told Thembi. “This president is the last baby boomer president we will ever have. The baby boomer leadership of Congress is slowly leaving the stage, and you see new, young leaders coming up.”
Ultimately, Booker shared that he feels “a lot” of politicians may stay in their position “too long.” However, it has been helpful to have tenured political leaders. Ultimately, the senator shared that he believes we “are in a time of retrenchment and retraction.”
