Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, launched its inaugural flight to Atlanta last week, marking a further step in its U.S. expansion.

This new route connects the vibrant cultural and commercial hub of the U.S. Southeast with Abu Dhabi. It offers travelers convenient access to the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Asia.

The service, which began on July 2, 2025, establishes Atlanta as Etihad’s fifth U.S. gateway, alongside New York City, Chicago, Washington D.C., and Boston.

Travel Demand Between US and UAE Growing

The first flight from Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport highlights Etihad’s commitment to meeting the growing demand for travel between the UAE and the U.S.

This route caters to a diverse range of passengers, including business travelers, vacationers, and those visiting loved ones.

It also opens the door for southeastern U.S. residents to explore Abu Dhabi, a city that blends modern innovation with rich cultural heritage, boasting stunning beaches, world-class theme parks, and delectable cuisine.

A standout feature of this route is the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Preclearance facility at Zayed International Airport, the only one of its kind in the region.

This service allows passengers to complete U.S. immigration and customs processes before boarding, enabling them to arrive in Atlanta as domestic travelers.

This time-saving convenience enhances the overall travel experience, making the journey smoother and more efficient.

Airbus A350-1000 Operations

Etihad Airways operates the Atlanta route using its state-of-the-art Airbus A350-1000, a fuel-efficient aircraft designed for sustainability and passenger comfort.

The A350 offers a quieter cabin, reducing noise for a more relaxing flight. Business Class passengers enjoy 44 private suites, each with a sliding door, direct aisle access, and a fully flat 79-inch bed.

These suites include noise-canceling headphones, an 18.5-inch TV screen for inflight entertainment, wireless charging docks, and Bluetooth headphone pairing. In Economy, 327 Smart Seats feature an innovative recline design, 13-inch touchscreens, and Bluetooth headset connectivity.

Complimentary Wi-Fi Chat packages are available to all passengers, with full surfing options for those who need more connectivity.

The Atlanta route launched with four weekly flights, but strong demand has prompted Etihad to increase to daily flights starting in November 2025.

Early bookings have exceeded expectations, reflecting Atlanta’s importance as a key market for both leisure and corporate travelers.

Antonoaldo Neves, Etihad Airways CEOgave comment on the demand driving the network move. “Atlanta is a dynamic city with deep cultural and economic ties. This service strengthens connectivity to the southeastern U.S. while offering seamless travel to Abu Dhabi and beyond.”

“The overwhelming response to this route has led us to introduce daily flights sooner than planned, showing travelers’ enthusiasm for discovering Abu Dhabi’s unique offerings.”

Conclusion

For U.S. travelers, Abu Dhabi presents an enticing destination with its blend of modern attractions and cultural treasures. From pristine beaches to thrilling theme parks and world-class museums, the city offers something for everyone.

Etihad’s award-winning service, combined with the advanced A350, ensures a comfortable and enjoyable journey, making this new route a gateway to unforgettable experiences.

This expansion solidifies Etihad’s presence in North America, fostering stronger ties between the U.S. and the UAE. Whether for business or leisure, the Atlanta-Abu Dhabi route promises convenience, comfort, and a world of possibilities for travelers.
