The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) held, yesterday afternoon (3), an air defense exercise at Galeão Air Base, in Rio de Janeiro, as preparation for the BRICS summit, which takes place July 4 and 7 in the city.

The simulation mobilized a super toucan A-29 a-29 fighter, where an aircraft is triggered from the ground to respond to a threat to airspace. Training is part of FAB’s operational routine and seeks to ensure immediate response to any violations during the international event.

“During the BRICS, any aircraft that enters without authorization in the restricted or prohibited areas will suffer an action like this and will be subject to defense measures,” said Colonel Aviator Aviator Luiz Almeida Cerqueira, deputy commander of the third regional air command (III Comar).

Air defense will feature fighters, missiles and anti -ron systems

In addition to the A-29 Super Toucan, the air defense will feature F-5 fighters, RBS 70 missiles, anti-aircraft radars from the 1st Electronic War Battalion and Anti-Arrones Systems. The operation takes place at the same place for the landing of foreign leaders, with a reception forecast of about 15 international delegations and the use of more than 600 military personnel.

Integration with Brazilian Navy

  • CONTRACTORRARISM AND ELECTRONIC WAR
  • Maritime and cyber protection
