flydubai, a leading Dubai-based airline, has started building its new Aircraft Maintenance Centre at Dubai South.
This multimillion-dollar project is expected to be completed by late 2026. It will enhance the airline’s control over maintenance operations and speed up turnaround times for its expanding fleet.
The facility reflects flydubai’s focus on strengthening its in-house capabilities and supporting Dubai’s position as a global aviation hub.
New Dubai South Maintenance Centre
The new maintenance centre will cover 32,600 square meters and include an aircraft hangar, support workshops, and office spaces. This setup will streamline maintenance processes, ensuring flydubai’s fleet remains safe and operational.
The centre’s strategic location near Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), set to become the world’s largest airport, makes it an ideal spot for the airline’s growth plans.
The groundbreaking ceremony was a significant event, attended by key figures, including His Excellency Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South, and Ghaith Al Ghaith, flydubai’s Chief Executive Officer.
Representatives from the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH) also joined the event, highlighting the project’s importance to the region’s aviation sector.
His Excellency Khalifa Al Zaffin emphasized the milestone’s significance, stating, “This new facility marks a proud moment for Dubai South. It reflects flydubai’s growth and our commitment to supporting aviation with world-class infrastructure.”
“This centre will further establish Dubai as a global aviation leader.”
Ghaith Al Ghaith flydubai’s Chief Executive Officer echoed this sentiment, saying, “Since starting operations in 2009, flydubai has focused on connectivity and innovation. This maintenance centre is a key step in our growth journey.”
“It will support our growing fleet and maintenance needs, reinforcing our dedication to efficiency and Dubai’s aviation excellence.”

Scope of the New Hub
The agreement for this purpose-built facility was signed with MBRAH at the 2023 Dubai Airshow. MBRAH, located in Dubai South, offers a thriving aviation and logistics ecosystem, making it a perfect fit for flydubai’s needs.
The hub supports global aerospace companies, including airlines, maintenance providers, and training centres. It will foster innovation and industry growth in the emirate.
The new centre will house over 600 skilled engineers specializing in Line Maintenance, Technical Services, Materials, and Workshops.

Their work will ensure the safety and airworthiness of flydubai’s modern fleet, which includes Boeing 737 aircraft.
The airline also expects to receive over 120 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in the coming decade, following its order for 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners at the 2023 Dubai Airshow.
flydubai has partnered with Group AMANA, a regional leader in designing and building industrial facilities, to construct a state-of-the-art centre that meets international standards.
Conclusion
This collaboration ensures the facility will support flydubai’s ambitious goals while contributing to Dubai South’s aviation ecosystem.
By investing in this maintenance centre, flydubai is preparing for future growth while enhancing operational efficiency.
The facility will play a vital role in maintaining the airline’s fleet, supporting its mission to connect more destinations and deliver exceptional service.
As Dubai South continues to develop, projects like this solidify its reputation as a global aviation and logistics hub.
