An IndiGo flight operating from Delhi to Goa diverted to Mumbai after experiencing an engine failure on 16 July 2025.
Indigo flight 6E6271 was en route to Goa Manohar International Airport (GOX). The aircraft, an Airbus A320neo, was performing the scheduled service from Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL).

As the aircraft approached to the north of Mumbai on flight plan track, flight crew reported the failure of one engine.
Following the engine shutdown, the decision was made to divert to Mumbai as a precaution. The aircraft then landed without further incident on runway 27 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM).
The emergency landing was made approximately 30 minutes after the initial diversion.

A spokesperson for the airline later confirmed the incident in a statement.
“A technical snag was detected on flight 6E 6271 while flying from Delhi to Manohar International Airport, Goa on July 16. Following procedures, the aircraft was diverted and landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.”

Actual time of departure for the service was logged as 8:16 PM local time. The scheduled departure time for the service was listed as 7:30 PM.
Following departure, the flight had set course normally, climbing to flight level FL340 for the southerly service to Goa.

The diversion was conducted from cruising altitude at approximately 130 nautical miles north of Mumbai. A direct track to Mumbai was then carried out.
The aircraft conducting the 6E6271 service to Goa was an Airbus A320neo, registered VT-room. This is a 6.8 year old narrow body aircraft belonging to the carrier IndiGo.
It has been in operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in October 2018.
