Malaysia Aviation Group, Malaysia Airlines controller, announced today (7), the order of twenty new A330-900 next to Airbus. With this new order, the company’s future fleet of the company will double for forty units.
The announcement was made during an official visit by Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, to France. In 2022, the group had signed an initial commitment to twenty aircraft as part of the Widebody fleet renewal program. Four of these have already been delivered and are operating on the routes between Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne, Auckland and Bali.
According to Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, Director General of Malaysia Aviation Group, the A330neo offers operational efficiency, range and comfort of the company’s proper growth strategy. The aircraft also allows greater flexibility for regional and long-haul flights, aligning with Malaysia Airlines premium positioning.
The A330-900 is equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines and has a range of 13,300 km. The aircraft has the Airspace cabin, with expanded individual space, larger higher compartments, new lighting system and updated entertainment and onboard connectivity technology.
