Pilatus announces modernization of its headquarters in Stans, Switzerland, focusing on sustainability, urban mobility
The Swiss manufacturer Pilatus announced on Friday (27), plans for a wide modernization of its headquarters in Nidwalden Canton. The project provides for the replacement of old and poorly efficient facilities with sustainable buildings, with the objective of consolidating production and administration areas.
The new buildings, designed to integrate with the local topography, will have heights of 32, 36 and up to 56 meters – dimensions already contemplated in the 2014 Cantonal Development Plan. The use of verticalization will allow better use of the land, avoiding the need to expand the site. The company stresses that the works will respect the adjacent swamp area.
According to Pilatus, the new buildings will follow international standards of sustainable construction, such as Leed certification. They will be built mostly with local wood and recycled concrete, and will have photovoltaic systems for its own power generation, as well as low energy consumption.
In addition to structural improvements, the project includes the relocation of Kantonsstrasse’s bus stop for Pilatostrase, focusing on urban mobility. The company also intends to encourage the use of public transport by its employees, offering annual subsidies of up to 1,000 Swiss francs.
The project depends on the approval of a change in the land use plan. The popular vote is scheduled for November 26. The company has already expressed early thanks to the Stans community for supporting the proposal.
