Global Alliance brings together 18 airlines, connects 945 destinations and expands integrations between modes and loyalty programs
Skyteam celebrated 25 years of operation last Sunday (22), consolidating itself as one of the main global alliances of airlines. Created in 2000 by four founding companies, the alliance today brings together eighteen members and connects more than 945 destinations in 145 countries.
With a total of 235 million participants in loyalty programs, Skyteam has expanded recognition and benefits among its associates, offering facilities such as shared VIP rooms, skypriority services in more than nine hundred airports and integration into miles accumulation and rescue.
Since its foundation, the alliance has invested in digital solutions that improve the passenger’s experience. Among the resources, we highlight Digital Spine, which enables check-in on multi-operator itineraries through a single application or website, as well as tools such as Carry-On Calculator, which helps in the planning of hand luggage.
From all of us at SkyTeam, thank you for being part of this special milestone.#SkyTeam25pic.twitter.com/r0ZjSkDzUe

SkyTeam also offers access to over 750 VIP rooms, including HUBS lounges such as Dubai (DXB), Santiago (SCL), Sydney (SYD) and Vancouver (YVR), as well as the standardization of benefits for Elite and Elite Plus customers.
In the field of sustainability and social responsibility, the alliance launched The Aviation Challenge, an initiative that brings together more than 27 companies in favor of a more sustainable aviation. It also supports the 25by2025 campaign of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), focused on gender equality in the sector, and pioneered a joint statement against trafficking in persons.
With the recent membership of members such as Virgin Atlantic and SAS, Skyteam has expanded investments in technology and multimodal integration. Partnerships with rail operators such as Eurostar and Trenitalia already allow more fluid connections between flights and trains in Europe. In addition, the alliance works in the implementation of real -time luggage tracking and the development of integrated loyalty experiences.
“This 25 -year -old milestone is also a catalyst for the future. Along with our Member Companies, we are building the next generation of travel experiences-smarter, integrated and responsible”, Disse Patrick Roux, CEO Da Skyteam.
In South America, the alliance is represented only by Aerolíneas Argentinas.
