Wizz Air will now accept American Express (AMEX) as a payment method for flight bookings and onboard purchases.
The airline was the last major carrier in Europe to not accept the card, which is commonly held by people travelling on business.
The decision is part of the airline’s ‘Customer First Compass’ initiative which aims to make every part of the process as user-friendly as possible. All Wizz Air services, from flight tickets to onboard products, are now available for purchase with Amex on the Wizz Air website and mobile app. Offers and discounts will also be available via the Amex Offers platform in the near future.

Ian Malin, Chief Financial Officer at Wizz Air, said: “We are excited to offer American Express as a payment option to our passengers across Europe. Many corporate travellers prefer Amex, so this ensures they can enjoy our ultra-low fares and extensive route network with greater ease and flexibility.”
Dan Edelman, UK General Manager, Merchant Services at American Express, added: ““We are committed to ensuring our Cardmembers can use their Card wherever they live, work and travel. We’re delighted that American Express is now accepted by Wizz Air, one of Europe’s leading low-cost airlines. This agreement gives our Cardmembers travelling for both leisure and on business greater flexibility when spending with Wizz Air and further cements our strong merchant acceptance across airlines and beyond.”
Founded in 2003, Hungary-based Wizz Air operates nearly 800 routes across Europe and beyond and continues to grow its footprint in both established and emerging markets.
